Investment Operations Manager (Cambridge Investment Management Limited)

Cambridge Investment Management Limited (CIML) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Cambridge that manages financial assets of around £3.5 billion on behalf of the University, Cambridge Trusts and certain Colleges. Our primary function is to maximise the total return from the University's investments, in a sustainable way. CIML has an efficient core structure comprising 7 investment colleagues and an operations team of 6, led by our inspirational Chief Investment Officer, Tilly Franklin, who was appointed last year. We are now seeking to appoint a highly motivated Investment Operations Manager, who will be responsible for managing the operational elements of our investment functions.

As the Investment Operations Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining oversight of investment custody and investment transactional support within CIML, whilst also working closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Compliance Officer to ensure all regulatory, legal and compliance processes are robust and consistently applied in all investment activities. This role will give you the opportunity to develop and improve systems to ensure that they are capable of delivering flexible portfolio performance reporting and attribution, whilst pro-actively identifying areas for improvement in line with industry best practice. You will engage regularly with the investment team to drive continuous systems and reporting upgrades and improvements. You will also be responsible for the delivery of an accurate and effective reporting function, which includes; the cash position, liquidity profile, short, medium and long term cash flow forecast and asset evaluation of the CUEF portfolio.

You will join us as a qualified accountant, treasurer or with a professional investment qualification and demonstrable experience of working in operations management, ideally gained in an investment setting. With a sound understanding of business processes, financial systems and FCA regulated environments, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to manage investment performance reporting and banking systems. Total accuracy and attention to detail will be vital in the maintenance of the complex and high value investment portfolio. Part of the role will require liaison with a range of internal and external contacts, including; fund administrators, compliance consultants and the global custodian), therefore, you must be able to demonstrate your excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to liaise with staff at all levels.
